The Barcelona Marathon, which was due to take place on Sunday 15 March, has been postponed to Sunday 25 October, due to coronavirus.
City officials confirmed the news in a bid to contain the spread of the coronavirus. The statement read, “We are truly sad to inform you that the marathon of Barcelona has been postponed to the 25th October
“This was due to security reasons with regards with COVID 19 and following the WHO [World Health Organization] & Health Authorities recommendations on this matter for major international events.

“Nevertheless, we still want you to live the magic experience of running the Marathon of Barcelona.
“We will keep your registration for the postponed race which will take place on the 25th October or, if you prefer, for the 2021 edition in March.”
