preview for NOT TODAY | A Film By Runner's World

"Not today, motherf***er!" was the battle cry Kelly Herron screamed on a Sunday afternoon when she was brutally assaulted during a marathon training run.

Using skills she had recently learned in a self-defense class, she fought back and managed to trap her attacker inside the bathroom until help arrived. Her social media post showing the frantic GPS lines tracking the assault went viral, attracting global attention.

Her experience is sadly common. Eighty-four percent of women have been harassed while running. Some never make it home.

Master the Half, NOT TODAY, powerfully examines the realities of that grim statistic—and the determination to change it—through the stories of three women who experienced violence while running. Mollie Tibbetts and Wendy Martinez were both killed, while Kelly Herron survived her encounter. Their tragic stories rippled through their families, friends, and even those who never knew them, leading ultimately beyond grief and fear to inspiration to make running safer for women.
