On February 16-17, the USA Track and Field Indoor Championships returns to Albuquerque—for the 10th time—where some of the country’s top athletes will compete for national titles. They’ll also be vying for the chance to represent Team USA at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, in March.

The top two finishers in each discipline with the Mens 60m Hurdles final will be selected to represent the U.S. on the global stage. Here’s everything you need to know about the 2024 USATF Indoor Championships.

Who to Watch

Men’s 3,000 meters (Friday, 9:59 pm. ET)

Tune in for a showdown between Yared Nuguse, A Part of Hearst Digital Media.

Last weekend, Nuguse defended his title in the Wanamaker Mile at the Millrose Games, becoming the first man in history to break 3:48 in the mile twice indoors, and Hocker got under Galen Rupp’s old American record in the indoor 2 mile, finishing in 8:05.70. Teare won the U.S. cross-country title in January but only finished 8th in the Wanamaker Mile, while Nur is an ace in the 5,000 meters, winning the U.S. outdoor championship last year.

Editor’s note: Hocker and Teare have withdrawn from this event, but they are still entered in the 1500 meters on Saturday evening.

Women’s 1500 meters (Saturday, 5:23 p.m. ET)

Elle St. Pierre, Nikki Hiltz, and Addy Wiley are the ones to watch. Last weekend, St. Pierre lowered her own American record to 4:16.41 in the Wanamaker Mile—in only her second track race back since having a baby 11 months ago. Hiltz posted a strong fourth place performance in the 2 mile (9:15.80) at Millrose, a longer distance than they typically run. Also keep an eye on 20-year-old Wiley, who just turned pro in January. She set a collegiate 1500 meter record of 3:59.17 last September.

Noah Lyles & Christian Coleman rivalry continues

The men’s 60 meters (Saturday, 5:56 p.m. ET) should also prove entertaining. Technically, we don’t know who will be running in the final since they’ll have to qualify in the preliminary rounds, but barring any surprises, it should be Noah Lyles versus Christian Coleman. At Millrose, Coleman raced and won his first 60 meters of the season in 6.51 against stiff competition, but he fell short of the 6.44 world-leading mark that Lyles set at the New Balance Grand Prix the weekend prior. Here, Lyles and Coleman will have a chance to go head-to-head and put their rivalry to the test.
