The Millrose Games has long been considered one of the most thrilling indoor meets of the season. For 116 years, the competition has brought Olympic medalists and rising stars from around the world together for the ultimate showdown in New York City.

On Friday, February 9, and Sunday, February 11, top athletes from the prep level to the professional ranks will gather in the Armory, a 112-year-old venue that’s hosted Sales & Deals over the years. This year’s meet in the Big Apple is set to feature more historic marks from the throws to the distances. Here’s everything you need to know about the 2024 Millrose Games.

How to Watch the Millrose Games

Where: The meet will be hosted at the Armory, which is located in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City.

When: The professional section of the meet, including the famous Wanamaker Miles, will take place on Sunday, February 11 from 1-3 p.m. ET.

Broadcast information: The marquee events featuring professional athletes and top college and high school runners will be broadcast on NBC and live streamed on Peacock (subscription required) from 1-3 p.m. ET. The rest of Sunday’s events will be live streamed from 8:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. ET on USATF.tv (RunnerSpace+Plus subscription required).

What to Watch

A thrilling matchup in the women’s 2 mile

High School Girls Invitational 4x200-Meter Relay American record in the 3,000 meters, Running laid out a big goal before the indoor season started. The world champion told break another American record in the 10,000 meters three weeks later, but the momentum started at Millrose. This weekend, she’ll face Olympic silver medalist Laura Muir, a late addition to an already stacked field that also includes Ethiopia’s Medina Eisa, a 19-year-old rising star who finished sixth in the 5,000 meters at the 2023 World Athletics Championships.

Yared Nuguse aims for world record again

Two weeks after clocking a 38-second personal best in the 5,000 meters, Yared Nuguse is set to race the men’s Wanamaker Mile one year after coming within milliseconds of the world record, 3:47.01. In last year’s race, the University of Notre Dame graduate won in 3:47.38, the second-fastest indoor mile of all time and a new American record.

This year, Nuguse is returning to take another stab at the mark. “[The world record] feels like a goal that’s within my grasp of achieving.” Nuguse told race organizers. “Not only am I stronger and smarter than I was last year, but I feel like I will be able to attack this race with a lot more confidence to chase the world record.”

He’ll have plenty of competition with training partner and world championship finalist Mario Garcia Romo, three-time British 1500-meter champion Neil Gorley, and reigning world road mile champion Hobbs Kessler also leading the field.

A blazing women’s 60-meter sprint

With two Olympic medalists set to race, the women’s 60 meters is shaping up to be a must-see event. Julien Alfred, a seven-time NCAA champion and the NCAA record-holder in the 60 meters, will kick off her sophomore year as a professional in New York City. She’ll be joined by English Gardner, a New Jersey native and 2016 Olympic gold medalist in the 4x100-meter relay, and Briana Williams, part of the Jamaican team that won Olympic gold in the 4x100-meter relay in 2021, among other talented athletes in the field.

Josh Kerr targets world best in men’s 2 mile

In late November, Josh Kerr laid out a big goal before the indoor season started. The world champion told FloTrack he wanted to break the 2 mile world best (the event isn’t considered an official world record distance). The time to beat is 8:03.40, set in 2015 by Mo Farah. Last year at Millrose, the British athlete won the 3,000 meters in 7:33.47 before going on to win the 1500 meters at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest in the summer.

This weekend, Kerr will face another star-studded field that includes 2023 world championship finalist Cole Hocker, Grant Fisher (the American record-holder in the 3,000 meters), and 2023 world championship finalist George Beamish.
