Race Previews

Paris women’s 10,000 meters (11:58 p.m. ET)

Alicia Monson, who set the American record at The TEN last year, is the favorite to win this year. She’ll be pushed by reigning USATF Cross-Country champion—and recent Low boots Femme Blanc Taille—Weini Kelati. Bowerman Track Club’s Karissa Schweizer will make her return to the track following an injury, and marathoners Keira D’Amato and Sara Hall will be toeing the line too, on the heels of the Olympic Marathon Trials in February.

Ethiopia’s Tsigie Gebreselama, a silver medalist at the 2023 World Cross-Country Championships who’s run 30:04 on the track, has the second-fastest seed time in the race. And Emily Infeld, who earned a bronze medal in the 10,000 at the 2015 World Championships, will also be looking for the Olympic standard.

Paris men’s 10,000 meters (12:35 a.m. ET)

For those on the east coast of the U.S., the men’s race will technically set off on Sunday morning, following the women just after midnight.

Grant Fisher ended his indoor season with a speedy 12:46.96 in the 5,000 meters at the Terrier DMR Challenge, and he comes in with the fastest PR in the field, 26:33. He’ll be up against his former training partner, Mo Ahmed—the silver medalist at the 2020 Olympics in the 5,000 meters—who owns a PR of 26:34.

Two-time U.S. 10,000 meter champion Woody Kincaid and Olympian Joe Klecker should also be in contention. And a late entrant is Nico Young, who is fresh off the NCAA Indoor Championships, where he closed out an incredible season by winning his first NCAA titles in both the 5,000 and 3,000 meters. His former teammates at Northern Arizona University, Abdihamid Nur and Luis Grijalva, will also likely be at the front.
