Jonas is 36 years old and grew up in central Hesse near the Lahn River and its tributaries. At 14, he caught his first wild brown trout on a caddis imitation and, in that moment, fly fishing was to become a significant part of his life. Casting, especially with a single-handed rod, plays an important role for him and he works on the most varied casting styles in order to continuously improve his abilities. It is characterized by high line control and clean loop guidance at all distances.
Since he was 18 years old, he has offered courses in fly casting. From learning trick casts to casting in confined spaces and overcoming different flow conditions to casting over long distances. He has been able, thereby, to help both beginners and advanced casters.
He has become a part of the German Hardy Pro-Team and gives casting demonstrations in Germany and elsewhere in Europe. In addition, he regularly contributes practical articles in fly fishing magazines.
His greatest passion remains trout fishing, whether in small meadow streams, alpine lakes, or on the coast fishing for sea-run browns. During the trout off-season, he happily fishes with heavier tackle for pike. At the EWF, Jonas will focus on the physical principles of fly casting and offer tips and advice for each individual to improve his or her casting.
