Bruce has had her share of setbacks, but the attitude she’s brought to overcoming them is inspiring. The Summer Running Gear podcast, hosted by Melody Dowlearn, focuses on midpack trail runners. Verna Volker, the founder of Updated: Feb 21, 2020 7:00 AM EST (NWR), was all of whom will be running the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, and she talks about the work she’s doing through NWR to encourage participation and visibility of Indigenous runners, and to call attention to the number of missing and murdered Indigenous women. Volker says that as a slower runner, she’s drawn to the trails, where time matters less.
