Other athletes who have been coached by Aden include Abubaker Kaki Khamis, a two-time world 800 meter champion from Sudan, Ismael Ahmed Ismael, 2008 Olympic 800-meter silver medalist also from Sudan, and Taoufik Makhloufi, the 2012 London Olympics 1500-meter champion from Algeria.
Hamza Driouch, a Qatari middle-distance runner and 2012 world junior 1500-meter champion, who was suspended from competition for two years in February 2015 due to irregularities in his biological passport, also trained under Aden’s guidance.
In February, three of Aden’s athletes—Dibaba, Ayanleh Souleiman, and Abdalelah Haroun—broke world indoor records at the same meet in Stockholm. Dibaba ran 4:13.31 in the mile, breaking a 26-year-old record by almost four seconds. Souleiman posted a 2:14.20 for 1,000 meters, and Haroun ran 59.83 in the 500 meters.
