A good pair of running headphones makes it easy to listen to music or podcasts on the run, and the latest models feature all kinds of advanced tech, from ambient sound modes to active noise canceling (ANC) and more.

The Expert: I became a runner in middle school and have covered running and outdoor gear for years, both on-staff at Runner’s World and as a freelance journalist. To write articles like this, I research new and notable running earbuds available across retailers, consult RW reviews and tester feedback, and draw on my own experience with the tech and outdoor gear industry. With input from RW editors, I combine all that info to choose what earbuds make it onto this page.

Runners World; Courtesy JLab RW’s Runners World; Courtesy JLab are currently discounted, including models from Bose, Beats, Jabra, and Apple. Most of these on-sale ‘buds are available at third-party retailers (Amazon and Walmart), though some brands, namely JBL, are having their own holiday sales. The sale prices vary, but double-digit discounts are the norm. Read on to discover the best Cyber Monday running headphones deals that are still being offered.

How We Evaluated

The models below represent the best Cyber Monday running earbuds available now. To recommend them, I searched across online retailers like Amazon and Walmart, along with headphone brand websites, to find the latest deals. Using RW reviews (especially the Earbuds Guide), RW editor feedback, and my own knowledge and experience with running gear, I focused on high-quality earbuds that work well for running. I prioritized models with good battery life and dust and water resistance. Those stats are called out for each model below.

A note on IP ratings used in this guide: The first number refers to how well the device resists solid particles like dust and hair; the second refers to how well it resists water. The higher the number, the more resistant the device is (the “x” in IPX4 means the device was not tested for dust resistance). You can read more about IP ratings here.

Finally, this list features a variety of options, like earbuds with ear hooks or noise canceling tech, to suit different runner preferences and needs.

The first thing you’ll notice about the Beats Studio Buds is their size: These earbuds are tiny. Even so, RW testers found they stayed in place while running. Better yet, they’re programmed with premium features like spatial audio (which mimics the experience of listening to music in a room), a transparency mode, and active noise cancellation. They play nice with both iOS and Android devices, and they come with three sets of silicone ear tips to help you get a snug fit.

Sony’s LinkBuds have a unique design: A ring-shaped speaker with an open center area that allows ambient noise to pass through. The result? You can listen to music and hear speeding cars and other hazards as you run. The audio quality isn’t stellar, but if you often run in high-traffic areas and prefer an in-ear fit, these are definitely worth a look.

Races - Places Runners World; Courtesy JLab for staying alert while running, but they’re pricey and a bit bulky. Although they don’t use bone conduction technology, these JLab earbuds offer similar awareness for less than half the price, and they’re more streamlined. The ear hook design places a speaker over each ear but leaves your ears open, so you can hear ambient sounds easily (they can also attach to your sunglasses). The audio isn’t going to win any awards, but by prioritizing ambient sound, they offer a safe way to listen to music while running in busy areas.
