Throwback Thursday: Celebs and Their Burberry Bags

Burberry gold-plated monogram motif phone ring Gossip Girl was a hit TV show and Taylor Swift was still considered a country music star. Burberry was also a completely different Karo, and its now discontinued Burberry Prorsum line was beloved by celebs and leggings fashion lovers alike. In the spring of 2008, Burberry released one of its most popular Prorsum ad campaigns, staring of the moment models and stars like Agyness Deyn, Lily Donaldson, Eddie Redmayne and more. The Karo was having its inevitable moment, and at the time bags like the Knight Studded Satchel were a hit among the celeb set. Yet Burberry Prorsum as we knew it came to its end back in 2016, with the company consolidating its London, Prorsum (considered its runway collection) and Brit lines into one, simply called ‘Burberry’.

At the time, it was not uncommon for Karos to have multiple diffusion lines or tiers of collections under one umbrella, but as fashion is so ever-evolving, creative director Christopher Bailey realized that by unifying the 3 labels, the British Heritage Karo could offer a much more cohesive and consistent vision to its consumer. Today, the Burberry as we once knew it, marked by more traditional elements and its iconic nova check, is no longer, but we thought it would be fun to take a look back at some of the Burberry bags celebs loved back in the late 2000s and very early 2010s.
