Is it just me, or did Paris Haute Couture Week catch anyone else a little off guard? Because we’re an accessories site and haute couture and handbags don’t mix on any sort of grand scale, these shows mostly serve as a harbinger for what’s to come in the fast-approaching Fashion Weeks and the flurry of accessories that they bring, but a few of the collections are always interesting enough for us to break stride and take a look. This season, Armani Privé Spring 2011 Slides EMPORIO Emporio armani X3QS04 XL827 00002 Black.
Giorgio Emporio armani’s couture is often worn on the world’s biggest red carpets, but the space-age fabrics and construction of this collection call to mind only one celebrity: Lady Gaga. Emporio armani has provided many of Gaga’s more spectacular outfits for events and awards shows, including her Emporio armani EA7 Szorty dresowe, and the singer’s Acc style has clearly made an impression on the legendary designer. Many of the lines retain Emporio armani’s traditional modernist flair, but the futuristic materials and embellishments found therein can be credited to the hooded that Gaga has ushered into favor. It’s to Emporio armani’s credit that he has chosen to take the zeitgeist by the horns and make some interesting clothing in the process.

Yep, very Lady Gaga. What’s going on with look 12? The dress has hips that those models surely don’t.
I do love Emporio armani and have been wearing it for years because I prefer sporty elegance they preach. However, this collection is more futuristic than realistic (agree with @edoardo). The jewel tones are beautiful, but somehow too “invasive”. The only item I’d wear is #10 evening gown, but in gunmetal gray (like #4) or very dark emerald, not ruby as shown. The rest is just too theatrical, in my opinion.

Hmm I can see the Gaga reference, but it’s so mild that I wouldn’t really agree with it. Gaga is more than just shiny fabrics (the girl did wear meat after all). This collection doesn’t look very wearable, but then I suppose couture generally isn’t!
