Stefano Ticchiati

My name is Stefano Ticchiati, I was born in 1974 in La Spezia in northwest Italy.

I started fishing at the age of six, thanks to my father, practicing all types of fishing until the middle of the 1990s when I began fly fishing and fly tying.
My region is bounded by the Apennines and the Mediterranean Sea, so I began fishing in rivers and lakes catching brown and rainbow trout, black bass, pike, grayling, and chubs.

Living near the sea, it has been natural for me to improve my technique with saltwater fly fishing and I’ve achieved satisfactory results catching seabass, bluefish, pompano, and false albacore
I’ve fished in most parts of Italy and I’ve travelled to and fished in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, but my favourite country for fly fishing is Denmark where I can catch my dream fish, the sea-run brown trout.

To match my varied fishing, I tie many kinds of flies, including dry and wet flies, nymphs, streamers, and flies for saltwater and, sometimes for fun, I tie spey flies, salmon flies, and Carrie Stevens flies.

I have shown my flies in various Italian fly fishing clubs and I have attended some shows here in Italy, in particular, Fly Tying Experience.
I have written fly fishing and fly tying articles for an Italian magazine and like to participate in fly tying competitions. I am currently associated with Ahrex and am a member of the Swiss CDC team.

I’m very proud to take part in this fabulous fair!
