Frequently Asked Questions

What Is the Distance for a 3D Archery Target?

For 3D archery competitions, you'll typically shoot at a maximum of 50 yards. For beginners, kids, and recreational archers, you may find maximum shooting distances ranging from 30 to 45 yards.

How do you score a 3D target?

There are two main scoring types in 3D archery: IBO and ASA. IBO scores using rings worth 5, 8, 10, and 11 points. Hitting the smallest ring earns you 11 points, the next largest earns you 10 points, and the biggest scoring ring is worth 8 points. You will be awarded 5 points if you hit the target anywhere outside of the rings.

ASA scoring uses the same 5-, 8-, and 10-point rings. Additionally, you can earn points with rings worth 12-point rings inside the 10-point ring and a 14-point ring inside the 8-point ring. There are special rules when aiming for the 12- and 14-point rings so ask your shoot's instructor before firing.
