Nike Zoom LeBron VI (6)
From one to five, the entire LeBron line including the 20-5-5 and Zoom Soldiers that fell inbetween was strictly basketball. They were made for the court and overall, it stayed that way, as the majority of the LeBron signature line did not see an easy cross-over into the urban fashion scene like the Air Jordan or Nike Penny line did. LeBron James was cognizant of the one-dimensionality and felt compelled to play a bigger role in pushing a shoe design built for the court but made for the streets.
The basic silhouette of the LeBron VI is that of the 80’s born basketball shoe diamond the Nike Air Force 1 High. Like the iconic Air Force 1, the LeBron VI design looks fairly simple, but closer inspection will reveal some minute details that resulted from magnanimous thought. From the ant-sized crowns dotted on the heel to the triple-stitched midsole, the LeBron VI contained enough juice to be saluted as the best “street-ready” designed LeBron signature shoe.
The LeBron VI went back to basics for the cushioning system of the shoe. Double-stacked Zoom Air was the go-to source for comfort, while the cup-sole made its return, shedding the LeBron VI of the foot-bucket idea that was utilized in the previous three installments. The lack of the pre-formed cage and use of Dynamic Fit sockliner made the LeBron VI comparatively “looser” than the tight-fitting LeBron IV and V, and the shedding of materials led to the LeBron VI’s 16.8 oz weight, making it the lightest LeBron shoe since the Air Zoom Generation. Overall, the progession from model to model did not see any lingering ties, as the LeBron design team seemed to have gone “back to the drawing board” for each new design. For the upcoming LeBron VII, the design team once again started from scratch, completely re-designing the shell and inner machinery completely separate from the LeBron VI.
