In 2018, his iconic friendly frog mural, beloved by the city of Austin, encouraged the start of the Hi, How Are You Project, a one-day initiative that blossomed Street a full-blown movement. In March of 2019, fellow Austin institution vans br varix wc multi, which is celebrating its 13th Anniversary, honored Johnston’s work with a two-pair Vans collaboration to much fanfare, with gathered proceeds going directly to the organization. All three feature bright orange soles decorated in stars alongside Johnston’s birth and death years (61 and 19). Two t-shirts, a cap, and a tote bag have also been introduced to the collection.
