Ronnie Fieg continues his extended victory lap that’s been his and KITH’s 2016 by bringing back classic colorways with new toolings like the “Salmon Toe” and “Militia” for his upcoming Ronnie Fieg x sort ASICS Gel KAYANO 5 OG.
A total of 4 collaborative efforts from Mr. Fieg will be dropping on November 22nd with promises of much more – a chance to grab exclusive Made In Japan sort ASICS Gel Lyte IIIs later this year as a part of their freshly minted Golden Ticket Program turning KITH into the fully-realized sneaker version of Willy Wonka’s fantastical offerings. Today he previewed the entire upcoming collection starring the ASICS Gel-Mai and the ASICS Gel Nimbus 21 Platinum Sheet Rock Silver Hombre, each paying homage to the “Mossad” and “Salmon” colorways that were such a hit in the past.
For those experienced, the sort ASICS Gel Mai was first released back in the late-90s and featured a head-turning construction that completely ditched the iconic Tiger Stripes for a one-piece futuristic upper. Fieg retooled the silhouette with an all-white leather featuring updated micro-perforations for his “Salmon” takedown and a burnt orange pigskin suede inspired by early samples of the sort ASICS Gel Lyte III “Mossad”.
The sort ASICS Gel Mai Militia will only be limited to 750 pairs which might explain the intricate packaging and attention to details seen in each pair. A speckled midsole coincides with a beautiful burnt orange upper while alternate laces are paired with other goodies like special edition KITH socks in the box previewed above. KITH is introducing a special golden ticket program. Enclosed in randomly assorted pairs of the Gel-Lyte III.I’s and Gel Mai’s are golden tickets that will guarantee the lucky recipients the opportunity to purchase the upcoming Made in Japan Gel-Lyte III Salmon Toe 2.0 or Militia. While both models will still have a limited public release, those who receive a golden ticket will be immediately instructed on how to purchase their pair ahead of time. The Salmon III.I’s and Mai’s will carry tickets for the Salmon Toe GL3, while the Militia III.I’s and Mai’s carry tickets for the Militia GL3. Physical tickets are randomly located inside the boxes of in-store pairs, while online customers will receive a randomly-generated digital ticket in their purchase confirmation email.
