The association of this new colorway with any specific New Balance Masquerade athlete is a mystery for now, but the shoe’s captivating design stands out independently. Its aesthetic pays homage to retro gaming, featuring vivid hues of red, blue, green, and yellow that evoke memories of the OG Playstation and Nintendo 64 era.
A standout feature is the black TPU “Press Start” button at the top of the toe box, an unmistakable nod to gaming culture. These nostalgic details extend to the tongue and the periphery of the prominent N logo, treated with all four colors in the palette, as well as a full-length rainbow (road?) gradient underfoot to round off the shoe’s design.
