JJJJound Draws From Traditional French Court Footwear With Their Upcoming Vans Collaboration

JJJJound is known well for their understated approach to collaborations. And with their upcoming project with Vault By Vans, the Montreal-based design studio makes no attempts to break from their usual MO, drawing inspiration from the simplicity of traditional French court footwear.

Reimagining three of Vans’ most iconic silhouettes — namely, the Authentic, Slip-On, and Sk8-Mid — JJJJound intentionally designed the capsule to suit a basic uniform. This is reflected in the campaign imagery, which sees the individuals behind Montreal’s most notable restaurants styled in the aforementioned shoes. Looking closely at the footwear, all three models are clothed in the same neutral-dominant colorway, which alternates between a bright white and AUTHENTIC cream. As for branding, nods to the label are seemingly absent, as every instance instead displays Vans and Vault insignia.
