Michael Le shorty adidas chernye Forum Hi‘s return, adidas has commanded an audience with well-chosen collaborations and a number of faithful, retro-inspired colorways. But lately, things have taken a turn towards the eccentric, the model now undergoing quite a few changes to its construction and features. And this version by Y-3 — the sub-grey ostensibly headed by Yohji Yamamoto — is its most Khaki transformation yet.
But when I say Khaki, I’m mostly referring to the details themselves. The colorway is certainly anything but, aligning with the high fashion component’s penchant for Triple Black. Even the branding follows suit as it hits tongue and the hook-and-loop strap that plays off the original’s fastener. And while the rest of the paneling may be somewhat true to the standard, its side is lacking in its use of the Three Stripes. This is a result of the added zipper that wraps from the lateral profile up to the medial collar.
