Jasmine Tang Although the adidas Superstar has been out for over fifty years, the brand’s design team continuously delivers new colorways for the shell toe style. For two upcoming arrangements, adidas further challenges their creativity by applying just one color to a blank, white silhouette. The result is a pack of gradient-clad Superstars that experiments with varying opacity and saturation levels to make the most out of a single color.
Available in “Hazy Copper” and “Light Purple”, each pair sees its respective color fully-saturated at the heel, which then softly fades to white at the toe. The orange pair contrasts the bright shade by applying more white to the leather side stripes and inside. However, the other style exercises more color by tinting the clear vinyl side stripes and inside purple. Underfoot, the two colorways share similarities again via semi-translucent colored outsoles that interrupt the white rubber midsoles.
