The Swoosh took a significant step in stamping the Vomero 5 as a tentpole product in Fall of 2024, introducing its first offshoot via the nike shox electric blue line. Billed as ready for the elements yet still maintaining the same Y2K aesthetics, perhaps it’s not just the harsher months that are suitable for the shoe. The “Lightning” / “Lightening” Vomero 5 Roam that just hit the newswire showcases a sunnier colorway and build for the nascent silhouette.
While past looks for the Vomero 5 Roam utilized thin, waterproof synthetic base layer, here the shoe pivots back towards the wide-eyed mesh that graces the parent model proper. That change allows the Roam to capture some warm-weather appeal, but the full breadth of the other defining features remain intact, from the added pull-tabs on the tongue and heel, to the flattened TPU cage, to the graphic mudguard that encircles the profile. Additionally, the “Lightening” tones may mark this as a more vibrant edition than we’re used to, but natural tones underfoot ensure the earthy gorpcore aesthetics still shine through.
The Nike Zoom Vomero 5 “Lightning” should hit Nike.com and partnering retailers in short order. While retail for the silhouette usually hovers around $180, it’s unclear whether the compositional changes here will affect that price. Keep our Sneaker Release Dates page close by for updates.
