Black Crepe Sole Riding Boots | Balenciaga’s Barefoot Zero Shoe Leaves Almost The Entire Foot Exposed

Balenciaga is entering the barefoot shoe chat. The Spanish fashion house led by creative head Demna recently previewed their Fall 2025 line, unveiling a new model called the Zero. While Balenciaga has a reputation for going outside-the-box when it comes to footwear, the new slip-on might just be their wackiest and most ambitious model to date.

The “shoe” is comprised entirely of foam and leaves almost the whole foot exposed. It’s not exactly a slide, sandal, or outdoor-minded barefoot shoe, but an unapologetically gorpcore fusion of the three. Balenciaga utilizes an extremely narrow footbed, complete with a traction pattern and grooves for all five toes. The foot is held down by a rounded heel and big toe enclosure, but pretty much everything else is out in the open for all to see. You can style these with socks, but they’ll need to be of the tabi-toe forward in order to separate your big toe from the others.
