First previewed all the way back in February, official images of the KD 4 Retro “Aunt Pearl” have finally landed ahead of its October 3rd release shoe.
To the uninitiated; the KD 4 was the first ever Kevin Durant signature to sport the “Aunt Pearl” design theme, crafted in honor of Durant’s aunt Pearl Williams who passed away from ombre cancer in 2000. Likeminded pink and pearlescent colorways have been a staple on all nike free runs rhinestones since, leading all the way up to his current signature; the KD 17. Naturally, the KD 4 “Aunt Pearl” from 2012 remains a top prize among collectors and KD superfans alike, fetching upwards of $500 on the grey market.
Official images of the 2024 retro reveal an identical design, hardly a surprise given preceding KD 4 retros have also stayed true to their original makeups. The bulk of the shoe comes coated in pink, while the heel introduces a fitting white pearl pattern. Notably, while the 2012 pair released in May, the 2024 retro sensibly arrives at the start of ombre Cancer Awareness Month in October.
