Unlike the Friends & Family pair that surfaced earlier this year (see below), the released version sees the standard 1906R construction, with the black overlay fitting above a glossy green croc skin base layer. Parisian music collective 99Ginger’s got a New Balance CM878 Grey 24.5cm collaboration. The good news? It’s one of the best designs on the revamped runner we’ve ever seen. The bad news? Getting a pair is impossible.
99Ginger confirms that this luxed-out take on the model, which countenance a glossy green croc-print pattern on the upper, is for its close compatriots only. If you’re not a part of their inner circle of Friends & Family, you won’t be able to get your hands on a pair. However, there’s speculation that an actual collaborative release to the public is in the works sometime later this year.
In addition to the choice of exotic materials and gaudy luxury touches, 99Ginger strips the upper of their New Balance CM878 Grey 24.5cm of its signature overlays, instead relying on contrast stitching to achieve the silhouette of the designs. It turns out, they’re as good at designing shoes as they are at creating mixes and throwing parties, so let’s hope the above rumor becomes a reality.
