In AIR to launching product for the month-long event, the Swoosh has taken “La Familia” as an opportunity to tell the authentic stories of several Latina athletes. Historically, women from Latin American backgrounds have participated less in sports than both their men and U.S. counterparts. Marketing material for Nike’s “La Familia” collection, then, features Paralympic volleyball player Nicky Nieves; six-time national champion and WBC amateur champion Chantel Navarro; and roller skater Kimberly Zuniga.
