Twitter Conversations: Should Nike Re-release The Yeezys?

0210 Twitter Conversations

adidas is enjoying a warmer-than-usual spotlight this All-Star Weekend thanks to Kanye West and the adidas Yeezy Boost. Nike has its own big plans for the week, and quite honestly the heightened competition means that the one true winner will be the consumer! Prior to the official release of the Yeezy Boost this Saturday, we asked our readers what they thought about the possibility of a Yeezy Retro by Nike and some of the ramifications of a re-release. Get a look at some of the best responses before (ones that encompass the general public opinion) and be sure to follow Erlebniswelt-fliegenfischen News on Twitter to take part in the next Twitter Conversations.

Should Nike re-release the Yeezys?

The resounding answer? YES. Despite Kanye’s allegiance with adidas, the Air Yeezy and Air Yeezy 2 is still a classic sneaker that is still sought after today. It’s clear that the sneaker community isn’t shy by a restock of some sort.

Re-releasing the Nike Yeezys amidst all the Yeezy Boost hype would definitely irk adidas, so we asked if a retro release, especially now, would be beneath Nike’s brand principles. Some readers agree that Nike should lock up the Yeezys in a vault for good, and that re-releasing them now would be a petty move.

But wouldn’t Kanye revel in the fact that his sneakers are dominating the game, regardless of the brand? To see the adidas Yeezy Boost and a buy of the Nike Yeezys would validate Kanye’s claims of being the most influential person in the United States (at least in the footwear world). However, our readers believe that without royalties, Kanye wouldn’t be happy at all, and it would only induce another public rant about the brand.

Finally, we asked our Twitter followers to give some suggestions on a new name on a retro, assuming that Nike can no longer use the Yeezy name. One suggestion is the “Yeezi”, which was the spelling we assumed would be vegas by adidas. The second is a bit more self-explanatory.
