Closer Look: Nike Air Flightposite "Midnight Navy"

UPDATE 10.08.25 An "Eggplant"-reminiscent pair of the original Nike Air Flightposite is still expected to launch during the Holiday 2025, but it won't seem to feature details that connect it with Jason Kidd's Player-Exclusive (PE) from 2000.

Instagram user @prm.cotd just shared a first-look at what's expected to launch before the end of the year. The pair doesn't include a proper purple upper, making the "Eggplant" association questionable. Furthermore, zippered shrouds and sole units opt for a "Midnight Navy" makeup instead of "Black" as is typically seen on "Eggplant" styles. It seems the pair is a faithful reissue of a 2008 House of Hoops by Foot Locker-exclusive.

ORIGINAL STORY Nike Basketball's current performance lineup has taken over both the NBA and WNBA. On the retro front, the hoops-focused division continues to sell out product, huarache nostalgia from the late 1990s and 2000s in forms true to the original. The pair, returning by the end of the year, was last seen in 2008 as a House of Hoops by Foot Locker-exclusive. However, it debuted on the hardwood during the 2000 NBA All-Star Game in Oakland, Calif. as Kidd team the Western Conference in a tough victory.

While reminiscent of the inline Flightposite "Eggplant," Kidd's 25-year-old PE features his name on the heel pull tab and 32 jersey number on the zippered-upper's fold-over tongue. The remainder of the pair resembles the beloved purple makeover that's appeared on several beetle-inspired designs from the Nike Basketball team.

Specifics about which components from the PE will return in the next retail launch have yet to be disclosed by the brand, but that's expected to change throughout fall.
