Instagram user @prm.cotd just shared a first-look at what's expected to launch before the end of the year. The pair doesn't include a proper purple upper, making the "Eggplant" association questionable. Furthermore, zippered shrouds and sole units opt for a "Midnight Navy" makeup instead of "Black" as is typically seen on "Eggplant" styles. It seems the pair is a faithful reissue of a 2008 House of Hoops by Foot Locker-exclusive.

The news arrives after a recent reissue run of both the Air Foamposite One and Air Flightposite. Both Nike Basketball offerings harken back to a time when footwear for the hardwood was entering a new era, abandoning the traditional leather builds of the 1980s and earlier. As one of the more exciting forces in the NBA around the time of release, Kidd received his fair share of exclusive Flightposites from the Swoosh conglomerate. He also rocked special editions from the Shox franchise.

The pair, returning by the end of the year, was last seen in 2008 as a House of Hoops by Foot Locker-exclusive. However, it debuted on the hardwood during the 2000 NBA All-Star Game in Oakland, Calif. as Kidd team the Western Conference in a tough victory.
While reminiscent of the inline Flightposite "Eggplant," Kidd's 25-year-old PE features his name on the heel pull tab and 32 jersey number on the zippered-upper's fold-over tongue. The remainder of the pair resembles the beloved purple makeover that's appeared on several beetle-inspired designs from the Nike Basketball team.
Specifics about which components from the PE will return in the next retail launch have yet to be disclosed by the brand, but that's expected to change throughout fall.
