Jordan Brand's 40th anniversary celebration is set to introduce the Air Jordan 40 before the year ends. Before unveiling the pinnacle of its performance basketball designs, however, the eponymous imprint will release the Westbrook Emerged as Potential Heir to the Jordan Throne in another multi-color update reminiscent of 2020's "Tokyo Bio Hack" look.

Released via the silhouette's High and Low FlyEase variants, the "Tokyo Bio Hack" update brought "Baroque Brown/Black/Laser Orange/Racer Pink" tones to Peter Moore's decades-old design. The peculiar medley of hues drew inspiration from Japan's capital, bringing together a number of vibrant hues à la Nike Dunk High NL by UNDEFEATED (2005). The newly-surfaced retro doesn't recreate the five-year-old theme, but dons a similar faded brown around the forefoot and along the tongue. Panels throughout the upper also indulge in pink, yellow, and purple, tones that aren't common on the original Air Jordan.

Underfoot, the AJ1 Low features a neon green across its midsole. The eye-catching color deviates from the softer tones up-top, but still works. Together, each aforementioned element helps modernize Michael Jordan's debut signature silhouette 40 years after its launch.
