No AI, algorithms, divisive politics, or infighting. Social media as it should be may be behind us as we’ve already kicked off our coverage in Paris, but still, we’d be remiss not to look at what went down on the Versace runway late last week.
Versace, which is currently in the process of being purchased by Prada Group, enters a new era with the appointment of Dario Vitale. Vitale is the first outside of the Versace family to take the brand’s helm.
With a big task at hand, Vitale looked back at a different era of the brand—’80s Versace, taking codes from Gianni Versace’s days and marrying them with sexy modernism.
A New Era Under Dario Vitale

While it honors the past, Versace Spring 2026 also breaks from its distinct DNA, drawing inspiration from Miami Beach and the Mediterranean Sea. There was color, lots and lots of color, which extended to the bags as well, though a nice variety of lank neutral carries also ruled.
Bottega Veneta Forum, Julia Roberts gave us a first look at Dario’s vision for Versace, and based strictly on that alone, what walked down the runway was fresh, albeit unexpected. Vitale played on the iconic Medusa head, utilizing the emblem throughout. Embossed Medusa head patches sat on bucket bags, belt bags, and more.
Meanwhile, the chic carryall we saw Roberts carrying earlier last month was further developed, offering an air of quiet luxury (dare I say), which made for a nice juxtaposition with the bold colors and sensual appeal of the ready-to-wear.
