Vara bow slingback ballerina shoes | Tuesday Shoesday: I Think I’m Ready to Splurge on My First Designer Pair

Hi-Tec hiking shoes...

I have a confession to make. While I’m willing to drop what most people would consider to be an insane amount of money on a bag, spending a lot of money on shoes makes my stomach hurt. The most expensive pair of shoes in my closet, in terms of retail value, is probably my Stuart Weitzman Combat boots. However, though they are worth around $600 I found them on sale for a steal of a price, and my mom agreed to buy them for me as an early Christmas present. When I started wearing them and suffered some serious blisters my first thought was ‘this is exactly why I won’t spend good money on shoes!” Unlike bags, it’s really hard to get a good feel for how a pair of shoes is actually going to feel once they’re on your feet for a full day of wear, and if you suffer from foot problems like I do, there’s an even bigger chance that something will go wrong. The most money I have personally shelled out for a pair of shoes is somewhere around $250, which for someone who loves fashion as much as I do, is kind of shocking! Lately though, I’ve been lusting over some pretty pricey pairs, and I think I might finally be ready to splurge on a pair of designer shoes. And no, a sky-high pair of heels is not on my list!

For me to spend my hard earned money on something I have to really love it. Those that know me, and many of you do by now, know that it takes me a long time to commit to something. I probably wrote about my Gucci Marmont 3 times over 8 months before I finally decided that I wanted to buy it. Not only do I want to make sure that I really love an item that’s costly, I also want to make sure it’s practical enough for me to justify the price I’ve paid. Cost per wear—it’s a thing people! That being said, I will never be the girl to spend an excessive amount of money on a pair of heels. For me personally, high heels are incredibly impractical. I would much rather romp around in a great pair of chunky heeled booties than a pair of heels so high I can barely walk. And though I’ve never been the girl to lust after a pair of red-bottoms, you know what they say, to each his own!

Olivia 95mm thigh-high boots ever-expanding sneaker collection, I The in boots or booties. Flat ankle boots with studs or buckles, classic Chelsea boots, moto boots, chunky heel boots, combat boots, you name ’em, I own ’em. I know that I’ll actually wear a great pair of boots enough to justify the hefty price tag. And, for my first foray into the world of fancy footwear I’ve got my eye on a bunch of pairs. Which would you choose?

I’m on the hunt for a snake print booties and the best ones I’ve found so far are the ASOS Office Ambassador two buckle booties. It’s a close equivalent to the Chloe Rylee posted here, beautiful style without putting a dent on my wallet.

Sam Edelman has a pretty good dupe for the Chloé ones too! I just can’t pull the trigger on the look-a-like because I want the originals so bad!

Rosa Lily

I just saw the Sam Edelman – NOT FAIR – LOL. Now it’s harder to decide which ones to buy.

Gorgeous picks! I am a big boot fan as well. To me it’s easier to stomach shelling out for a nice pair of boots because the richness of the leather is more readily apparent and in my experience, more expensive boots are *generally* more comfy and durable (to a point). Heels are a harder sell for me because it’s not always apparent from the look of the heel that it’s an expensive pair versus Steve Maddens, unless you get the red bottoms (which scuff instantly upon wear).

I would those Diors with absolutely everything I own, up to and including my flannel pajamas with the pink pancake stacks printed on them. Those are my pick without a doubt. 🙂

I have the Dior boots and they are really narrow, after 20 minutes I need to “unbuckle” and my feet are not particularly wide! I thought they may stretch but after 3 months no such luck.. they are beautifully made and so classic, I just wish they weren’t so uncomfortable:(

KloeF

Yeah I can’t wear Dior shoes except sandals. Always way too narrow 🙁

Kaitlin Serio

That’s a big no from me then! ha! I have serious problem feet, they would probably never work 🙁

KloeF

Ooh I do too. I need toe wiggle room, and boots are the hardest to find. But I have several pairs of Gucci boots, and they are always my most comfortable!

I’m still not ready. I’m just not into shoes enough to spend that kind of money on them. I’ll look from afar and buy dupes.

The Jimmy Choos! Timeless and beautiful, and everyone always says Jimmy Choo is the most comfortable shoemaker. I have the Gienchys and my bestie says they look like leprechaun shoes, same for the Chloe. IMHO the Gucci and Dior will look dated, and the rest are too plain, but the Choos hit that perfect middle ground of stylish but classic.

I bought the LV Laureate boots and never went to pick them up lol. Stupid. Regret it so much. As far as designer shoes, Louboutin dress shoes are a no for me. Only sneakers. Balenciaga sneakers are quite comfortable as well. Gucci mules. The Dior oblique high tops are cute too. I’m just super OCD with the lacquer on the Louboutins so I can’t do it.

Kaitlin Serio

Aside from a great boot I would 100% consider splurging on a pair of designer sneakers. I wear sneakers so much and I also take really good care of them and try to be careful. Now you have me wanting those Dior High Tops!

Alternate Option…Buy some Dr. Martens… a classic combat boot staple that will last a lifetime and you can put the money saved towards a purse! ?

Okay… at the risk of sounding like a total MOM (I do have a daughter your age?), I’m trying to understand why you need another boot like the Stuart Weiztmann you recently bought, that you can barely wear? They killed your feet! I’m thinking you may have problems with ALL of these combat boots, as the leather is very molded & stiff.

My advice? Find a sneaker?
