And just like that, the show I hate to love and love to hate is back on my screen. Only this time, they kicked it off with some odd side plots and one specific scene with Aidan and Carrie that I wish I could unsee. It wasn’t sexy, it was just gratuitous and too long and overtly graphic in a cringeworthy way. I even jotted down that Aidan said, “I ache for you.” At that moment, I felt like we had lost the plot.
Nevertheless, I am here to give you the bag breakdown of the show with a touch of each episode’s plotline. So if you haven’t watched it yet and don’t want any spoilers (though there truly isn’t much to spoil), move along.
We kick off with Carrie traipsing around her new Gramercy Park townhome/mansion. Somehow, each place she lives is more insane than the next, and this one is my absolute favorite by far. It is so far out of reach for pretty much all humans. There was a glimpse of a Dior pouch in her closet, but then we waited nine and a half minutes to see another bag.
This time it was on Charlotte and a fellow dog mom who met in the park with their respective dogs, and an argument over Charlotte’s dog attacking the other dog. Yep, the scene was as unnecessary as how I wrote that line. Charlotte had her pup on a Burberry leash and Burberry doggy bag holder (which may be an Etsy rendition, not sure Burberry ever made the actual doggy bag holder), which is very Charlotte-coded.
The aggressor then launched a smear campaign against Charlotte’s dog, which led to his ban from the seemingly only local doggy daycare center and negative hashtags as part of the takedown.
Like many others, I first assumed it was Thome Browne, which would have been a really off-pairing for the crazy dog lady. However, I found it is from a small company called Wicker Darling. This all made more sense, and I find these quirky wicker bags fun and appropriate for this random scene.
We fast-forward to Carrie and Seema on a walk discussing their relationship statuses, neither of which is going swimmingly. Carrie is wearing a ludicrously capacious hat, and Seema is carrying a ludicrously capacious silver bag.
I was happy to see the scene back at Lincoln Timidity to watch the Ballet with Lily. It was light, fun, and felt refreshing. Carrie was spotted with an embellished Gucci Jackie that burner burner festival bag leopard, and this scene acted as a palate cleanser from what was to come. Her outfit, the pastel hues and classic heels, and the banter with one of her besties, Anthony, felt very classic SATC.
Thankfully, there was no bag in sight when Aidan broke his no talking to the girlfriend he loves rule and called her from an old truck on the farm and uttered, “I ache for you”. While I am well-aware of the premise of this show, this scene left everyone talking – and not for the right reasons.
Thankfully, a Birkin came into view and helped me get back on track. Seema’s boyfriend went for a visit, and while she wanted him to prove his attention was for her, it was still for being one with his crew in a minivan around the city while location scouting. His assistant carried around an oversized Hermès Birkin, and Seema returned to her senses and realized she needed to put herself first. End scene.
We ended uptown at the Red Rooster, with Lisa throwing a cocktail reception for her husband, Herbet, to make him appear cool. He sang with his college quartet, which was decidedly not cool, per his campaign manager. Still, I loved the yellow Bottega Veneta Cassette Lisa carried along with the blue Chanel Kelly sitting on the table amongst the gals.
Oh, yeah, I almost forgot. Rosie O’Donnell had a significant role in this first episode as a no-longer-Virgin-visiting-nun after meeting Miranda. It was bagless and pointless.
And just like that, you have the most random recap of the episode and the bags I spotted in episode 1. Call me a glutton for punishment, because I will be back this week with episode 2!

Someone needs to tell Cynthia Nixon to stay away from the writers’ room. All these changes forced on Miranda are not true to the core of the character and this is why it’s so cringe. Nixon is a fine stage and screen actress and I appreciate her activism, but that doesn’t mean Miranda needs to be her mirror image. None of the changes they imposed on this character make any sense.

The doggy bag holder might have been something Burberry made custom for the show!? I think in SATC Season 6 Part 2, Episode 1, “Let there be light” when Charlotte is walking around the store with the Burberry sleep mask (seeing what it is like to not have vision, before volunteering for the blind, MPK said in the commentary that it was custom and they had to have it because it was so Charlotte! (If I remember correctly…🤣)
Thank you Megs for covering the bags on this show because it is so cringe that I couldn’t continue watching from the first episode, I felt it ruined the original series legacy in my mind and I was a huge fan. If I’m going to watch goofy fashion and unrealistic lifestyles I much prefer Emily in Paris for this. Hopefully the bags get better at least in subsequent episodes, the wicker dog was the highlight here and the Gucci Diana for me.
