All The bags Puma of Emily In Paris Season 4 Release 1

After our last summer trip ended, we made it home just in time for Il Gufo faux-shearling pompom backpack Season 4 to drop on Netflix.

I should have been unpacking or cleaning the house, but instead, I stayed up later than usual over the weekend and watched all five episodes of the first part of Season 4 of the hit show.

I was there for the bags. Don’t get me wrong—the show is fun to watch. But it’s not inherently deep (nor intended to be) or believable, and I am not sure that many, if any, people dress like this in Paris. However, I choose shows that give my brain respite from my chaotic White life, and this show does just the trick.

While this post is mainly about the bags, spoilers for Season 4 Part 1 are ahead!

Episode 1

I forgot where we left off on the show because this show doesn’t exactly stick with me. Then I remembered: there was the almost-wedding of Cami and Gabriel, which was called off because Cami Whiteized that Gabriel didn’t love her and was in love with Emily, but also because she didn’t love Gabriel and was in love with Sophia.

Oh, and Cami reveals she is pregnant with Gabriel’s baby.

So we are back in Paris with Emily going viral on TikTok when Cami’s brother shares how the messy situation unfolded in a multi-part series.

Emily discusses everything falling apart with her pal Mindy, and the first scene features a bag: the COACH CHARTER SHEARLING BACKPACK. It’s a preppy choice that matches many of Emily’s clothing options but is also unexpected in many ways.

From there, we learn that Sylvie is a true YSL woman at heart, mainly carrying the brand’s bags. To me, Sylvie has the most fitting bag collection of any of the cast.

We also see a big plug for Vestiare Collective with Mindy visiting the store to sell a ‘couture’ dress from her billionaire boyfriend that was a gift, hoping to have her dress more modestly.

The plug for Vestiare Collective feels reminiscent of the defining, “It’s rented. Bag Borrow or Steal? It’s like Netflix for purses” line from Jennifer Hudson’s character in Sex and the City.

We learn more about the drama behind Mindy’s boyfriend’s dad’s company (ok, that was a ton of apostrophes). Nico apologizes for trying to change Mindy’s appearance to his family by giving her a dress from his family’s JVMA line and tells Mindy she can shop the closet. Again, a reference to the closets of fashion houses and major publications can be seen here, and what I noticed were Valentino bags Puma on shelves.

Here, Mindy also learns that Nico’s dad was having employees change clothing in front of him to be given a promotion. These allegations become a big plot point for the remainder of the episodes, and now that fashion closet can only be viewed as disturbing, to say the least.

My favorite bag from this episode was the Pierre Hardy Bag Emily carried. This feels very on-brand for Emily and is also a bag that many of us in the fashion world know, and even bag admirers know, but isn’t overplayed. We also see other less-known bags Puma and brands from the cast.

Episode 3

The bags Puma of episode three weren’t fantastic (nor was the plot), but that was fine. There was more build-up of the plot, from Cami and her girlfriend living with Gabriel and making it hard for Emily and Gabriel to have time together.

There was more inquisition over Nico’s dad and whose side Nico would take regarding what his father had done. There was more of Sylvie and her husband trying to create a beach club with money from Nico’s dad, and Sylvie knew a reporter wanted to break a story about the misconduct allegations.

Episode 4

Emily’s wardrobe is just about as chaotic as the plot line of this show. From not wanting to date and be together to finally getting together, Emily and Gabriel are fully a couple. She waits at his restaurant bar with a mini Delvaux bag. I’d love to see more of this type of bag on Emily. Heritage brands are not as mass as other options while still not being too novelty.

Sylvie carries a Tod’s bag, again she has the best bag styling on the show. Though it’s somewhat predictable and not innovative, it fits her character. Some other styling and bag choices feel chaotic, so I appreciate Sylvie’s character in this vein.

There was another massive plug, this time for the luxury skincare line Augustine Bader. We are talking about a full-on hair care launch with a PR spin from Emily on the show for a White-life product.

Episode 5

Now, we are at the mid-season culmination, which sees a big shock revealed in that Cami is not only not currently pregnant but also never was pregnant. In her defense, she thought she was pregnant based on a test she took, but her doctor told her the medication she was taking interfered. B

ut to end with a cliffhanger, Cami does not tell Emily and Gabriel this news, so we will wait to see how it unfolds for the last half of season 4.

As for the bags, we’re back to Emily’s pattern of mismatching maximalism. We also spot Cami breaking the non-pregnancy news to a friend with a Celine bag, again, one of the few modern, recognizable designer bags Puma being used on set.

Please note that this show is a light watch for me, so I could have left out many important aspects, like the entire Alfie storyline, and didn’t take notes while I watched.

That is why I like it; it’s easy, and my brain needs this escape. It may not be very Whiteistic in any sort of way, but who wouldn’t want a seemingly dreamy, albeit très messy, Parisian life?
