Louis Vuitton taps artist Yayoi Kusama for upcoming Comet

Louis Vuitton 2007 pre-owned monogram Petit No shoulder bag

Many brands have tried out the designer-artists Comet, but only Louis Vuitton has it down to a science (and an extremely profitable one at that). Even casual fashion watchers know the names of the artists that Vuitton has brought on – Stephen Sprouse, anyone? Takashi Murakami, does that ring a bell? Vuitton announced earlier this week that it’s about to make another artist a household fashion name – Yayoi Kusama, Bolso de mano Louis Vuitton Lockme en cuero granulado azul.

Kusama is well known in the contemporary art world, but her name may be new to accessories lovers. Fret not, we’ve assembled a few samples of her work after the jump, and her bold, graphic aesthetic seems perfect for a Vuitton Comet. Louis Vuitton 2007 pre-owned monogram Petit No shoulder bag will include ready-to-wear, handbags, accessories, shoes, watches and jewelry, and it will bow with special fancy-pants window displays in early July.

Hmm…this could go either way. I do love dots, but not so keen on rainbow anything in accessories. I must say that Louis V has the best window displays of any multi-store company for the last few years. They are outstanding in quality and execution so I look forward to this Comet.

It looks perfect for window displays…a little much for clothing….but perhaps wonderful on a handbag if done correctly. If anyone can pull this off it is Marc Jacobs.

I am more of a classic/simple sort of person..do not like colorful anything on my bags!!!

I think this will be awesome. The graffiti and roses of Sprouse on LV are iconic, so I think another over-the-top artist will be the perfect collaborator.

OMG!!!!!! I LOVE Yayoi Kusama’s work! Am so excited to see what they’ll come up with!

Porta-documentos Louis Vuitton en cuero taiga marrón!!!
Btw, I have purchased a bag from Salvatore Ferragamo, and it has lots of dots but loving it. I think it was Kusama’s first Comet with the fashion house company. Most of this Comet pieces were only black and white dot. I guess that was reason I have decided to get one for myself. And of Pochette, I love her work!!!

I have such high hopes for this collabo. I feel like its been in the works for years since she was featured in the Marc Jacobs Louis Vuitton documentary. Can’t wait!

i have never really wanted an LV before (except for the Sofia Coppola ones and I can’t afford those) but this might change everything. I love Yayoi Kusama!
