In March of 2019, Chanel debuted Karl Lagerfeld’s final collection for the brand, and it was then that the Chanel Pre-Owned 1996 turtleneck top made its runway debut. The 19 bag has only been for sale for 6 months, and yet it has already cambon a beloved choice for Chanel lovers around the globe. In case you need a refresher, the 19 Bag was designed by Lagerfeld alongside Virginie Viard, who has since taken over the creative reigns of the brand. The 19 Bag pays homage to the classic 2.55 bag, which was created by Coco Chanel in February of 1955—hence the name 2.55. Just like the bag that inspired it, the Chanel Pre-Owned 1996 turtleneck top is named after the year of its birth. Designed to be both semi-structured and supple at the same time, the Chanel 19 is offered in 5 sizes and multiple fabrications. The design is classic in its flap bag design but also modern with its mixed gold/ruthenium hardware and bold CC logo. I have this bag in the small size. In my opinion, the larger the bag gets, the saggier it looks. Not the case with the small. It keeps its structure and is really beautiful. Mine is classic black and doesn’t look creased or saggy at all. If you want a traditional Classic flap, this is not it. Just know what you’re getting!
Love the new 19 in small or large. I think its beautiful, unique & since its Karls last design has a place in Chanel history.

I just don’t see it hanging around for 20 years. It doesn’t appear luxurious enough to warrant the price tag. Just saying.
If jeans are still here in 20 years I think it will have a place. People are dressing more and more casual.

It looks too…floppy. And because it’s floppy, it looks cheap, because it doesn’t hold it’s shape. Even the display photos with the bag empty show it buckling and creasing. Fine for a hobo bag, but for a flap it looks awful The prices for the fabric versions are outrageous, IMO, and I wouldn’t pay top dollar for the leather versions, either. Luckily I am not their target customer and some people will buy anything with the right logo on it.
Agree. I looked at the stitching, the leather and the overall finish and thought, no way would I pay more than $5000 for this. Go look at a similarly priced Moynat bag and the differences in quality are striking.
I like the 19. Its casual. The Moynat is so conservative and safe looking. I think the 19 is young and fresh. Soft and pillowy like so many that mod it because we all spend too much time on our ipads.

It’s hit or miss for me; some color/fabric-ways I love and others just miss the mark
For me the large pattern and the soft, slouchy design makes the bag look less like a designer bag and more like a cheap knockoff.
Not when you get your hands on one, in person nothing cheap or knockoff about it. Its plush and so nice and lux modern fresh
Actually I love my maxi tweed CHANEL 19, it’s a tweed version and it’s supposed to be floppy. It will keep it’s shape if I put a lot into this bag yet – it’s a handbag and everyone has different preference of how an (expensive?)handbag should look like.
Another one I got is the WOC tweed version with extra coin purse attached on the chain – The exquisite tweed fabric is just to die for.

I don’t like the straps especially the long strap that has both gold and silver hardware.
I think the fabric /tweed option . It has more casual look Chanel was lacking . I just don’t like two tone hardware. I wish they only had gold hardware or silver . I also love the chunky strap . It’s different from what Chanel usually does. I couldn’t see myself wearing classic Chanel bag with what I usually wear but I can see just grabbing flap 19
If the bag was structured, as in, it could stand up on it’s own like a top handle bag, I would like it more.
The way the leather version hangs makes the bag seem rather sloppy 🙁 But the tweed version is lust-worthy yum yum
I like almost everything about it except for the chain CCs. It reminds me of a kid playing around with novelty fonts when they’re using Word for the first time; it’s way too on-the-nose, and very silly.
At one point I had 5 of these because, for Chanel, they were pretty utilitarian. No more though. Over time they just felt sloppy and contrived. Like Frankenstein for Chanel – too many aesthetics forced together cacophonously.

If money wasn’t a thing, I’d pick the beige or tweed in a second. I think it’s a fun/cool design.
