Thank you for this! I think many people don’t realize that Hermes resale is AWFUL! Other than B/K (which, when you factor in both the commission from a resale site and any “extras” you had to purchase to score said bag really mean you’ve lost money on those) Hermes bags go for far less % than other brands as a whole. Constance is trending downward as well, I’ve noticed. I have a brand new C24 Rose Pourpre Evercolor, and FP just offered me 7k. Things are changing!
I’ve purchased Hermes Birkin’s and Kelly’s for years and a week before Hermes shuttered its doors, due to Covid-19, I purchased my “dream” Birkin. At times, I’ve sold a few Birkin’s to FP and they try to lowball me. However, I negotiate until I receive a better price, but never for less than I’ve paid. Anyway, did you sell your C24 for 7K? That price is insane and insulting!

No I didn’t. I’ve probably sold 500 or more bags to them, and sometimes they can give great quotes! Most of the time though, they are sort of where the marketplace is. I did sell a C24 to them a few months ago (pre-COVID) epsom, not new, and they gave me $10500. I do think that the Constance market has waned, and there are a ton of them on TRR and FP, which would make some sense. I have sold them a couple of Birkins and a Kelly, and pretty much I just got what I paid retail, which was fine because I was just looking to fund other purchases (not profit). I wish the other Hermes bags retained more value, but it is what it is. I ordered a Vert Criquet Evelyne FINALLY literally the day before the looters hit Rodeo Drive, so it’s just sitting there all paid for and ready to come to me. Rodeo is apparently covered in razor wire until at least next week. With production and supply down, it really will be interesting to see how the 2020 marketplace is affected won’t it?
Yes, I’ve sold a lot to FP, over the course of 10 + years, to fund other bags, too. In the past few months I’ve submitted pristine, never used, store fresh Chanel, Dior, etc. bags only to receive a quote for less than 50%. They try to qualify their quotes by stating it”s the “current market price” which is fine, but I’m not giving away my bags.
As far as Rodeo Drive it’s crazy that they have to protect their stores by covering them in razor wire?!?? My Hermes and other stores are not affected since, where I reside, peaceful protestors far outweigh looters. Anyway, when you finally receive your Vert Criquet Evelyne, enjoy! It’s a beautiful color and a great bag!
FP has gotten really pretty bad. I did let a few bags go for not much, maybe half, I just wasn’t in the mood to care at ATM and trusted that their price was based on demand UNTIlL I saw them list the bags for almost double! I was like , wow. Ballsy.

I always tell my husband, you’d think with my bag, car, furniture, home constant rotating fetish I would have trouble staying married to the same person for this long. (Luckily that’s far from the case ??) – And for anyone out there who might think to say, you could do so much better by giving that money away to causes and foundations, YES I do that with the same reckless abandon.

Between buying bags and selling them (I peaked at $250K to FB), buying and selling 4 houses in 11 years, redecorating them in different styles, trading in cars, donating my time, money and resources to charity, working full time, etc., my darling husband still puts up with my indecisiveness! I own a large one and enjoy the uniqueness of the design backed up with the excellent quality and craftsmanship. Without the shoulder strap it would be awkward to use with the two small handles; however, with that said it isn’t a bag for everyone. The Hermes bag I don’t understand is the Picotin since it’s simple, unattractive and grossly overpriced. Neither bag holds their value since I’ve seen them listed, in pristine condition on the secondary market, but for half their retail price. After being an Hermes customer for years the one consistency is that the Birkin holds its value. High end online stores sell pristine Birkins for $19K+ when they are currently sold for a little over 13K, including tax.

This is resale price not brand new price.
Some H designs just don’t have high resale prices. Bolide is one of them.
