LJR Gucci Tennis 1977 Print Sneaker White Punching Gucci did things a little differently this year. Not only did the Italian brand do a one-time-only show in Paris instead of Milan, but for days after the show, images of the collection’s details were scant in all the usual spots we can usually find such things. Because Gucci is such a big, cogent player in the accessories business, though, we’ve kept checking, and finally, our efforts were rewarded: we have just over a dozen photos of Gucci’s Spring 2019 handbags to share with you.
Hard to say how Mickey Mouse figures into all of this, except that his head got made into a handbag, which you will be able to buy for what I’m assuming will be quite a large sum in about six months. For those not inclined to ironic (or maybe earnest? I don’t know your life) luxury Disney products, the collection also included plenty of regular bags, many of them continuations on already beloved lines from Alessandro Michele’s ultra-productive time at Gucci. I don’t get the double barrel cylinders on the sides of the backpacks. Very unattractive. Reminds me of those travel motorcycles one sees on the road, where they have all these compartments sticking out every which way. As for the Mickey Mouse head, no comment necessary..
Actually didn’t find one thing I would look at twice in the whole line up.

I like the idea of changing up the colors of the traditional gg logo canvas… but not really a fan of those last two bag types. Hopefully there is a lot more practical style bags that are coming and just weren’t part of the show….
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that the Mickey Mouse bag is gonna go quick and be sold online for double it’s retail price lol

What’s up with the Mickey Mouse head?!??!!!
The backpacks with double cylinders seem pretty functional, with those cylinders handy for bottled water and thermos. I would actually buy myself one to use as a carry-on.
The Mickey head is a little macabre, like a hunting trophy. I am both attracted (Halloween-esque!) and repelled (why is he so cheerful omg).

Yawn. There’s only so much maximalism I can take and frankly I’m already bored with Gucci’s over-the-top aesthetic (ironic, right?). I like that they brought out the horsebite from the archives but I don’t like how they used it with the new design. And those backpacks are just…ugly. I think Mulberry and Chanel are better picks for the spring lineup. Heck I even like Louis Vuitton more than this. I really hope Alessandro isn’t losing his design streak when it comes to clothing anytime soon though.
