This season, Fendi print the brand new Baguette 1997, a re-edition of the original signature bag designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi. The revival is introduced in a short video series called Fendi Rainbow Bag Fendi Kids FF Pattern sun hat.

Taking place in Paris, the series pays homage to the Baguette’s name itself, which appears tucked under the arm, worn just like the namesake French bread that Parisian girls are snapped walking around the streets of Paris with. The Baguette 1997 is of course inspired by the original silhouette, featuring slim sides and an adjustable handle, reviving the iconic essence of this legendary silhouette.

Furthermore, some of the vintage bag’s most powerful materials are brought back with the return of the Baguette 1997, including kitschy sequins and pretty floral embroideries. The archival shapes are shown alongside brand new iterations of this age old shape, featuring the FF Vertigo pattern, which distorts the iconic Fendi FF logo. Created in collaboration with artist Sarah Coleman, the warped logo is a cool alternative to the Maison’s classic logo, presenting a psychedelic pattern, creating a visually dizzying effect. The pattern is presented in coated canvas as well as Fendi’s classic brown fabric jacquard.
